Application of the SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) method in the gear, pinion and raceway grinding (Ret26 machine) department has led to 30% faster changeover times.

This significant achievement was made possible with careful analysis of the set-up operations by a designated team, who went on to define and implement improvements in terms of both management (5S and reduction of MUDAs) and technology, with the installation of a new lift for handling the grinding wheels.

The project was completed with the definition of new standards and verification of set-up within the agreed time-frame.
