The winning project of Q3 2022 is the "Montaggio TX" Workplace Organisation team
16 December 2022There were incidences of "Muda" on the workbenches, with no set positions for the tools and materials used in the assembly process. This hampered the work flow, with a lot of time spent searching for and collecting components.
Also, the timing between the first work station (assembly of the gear reducer) and the second (final tests) was poorly coordinated, leading to a constant WIP (work in progress) situation.
The members of the "Montaggio TX" (TX Assembly) team applied the methods of Lean production, and the workplace organisation tools in particular, and managed to reduce by 30% the non-value-added activities on the three TX aluminium variator assembly lines.
By using the workplace organisation tools, the team managed to coordinate the different stages of the process, increasing productivity by 20% compared to the performance on conventional benches.
In addition, by integrating the pillars of internal logistics with those of production, the right synchronism was obtained between the control of materials and the needs of the lines, guaranteeing the transformation of the product in full compliance with the TAKT time.
In keeping with the concept of "Yokoten" (horizontal deployment), these examples of best practice have been shared and extended to other similar assembly lines.
Motovario continues to invest in production processes to keep on offering highly competitive quality products on the market, while focusing on one of its core values: innovation.
