02 June 2021Happy Italian Republic Day to all Italians celebrating the values of liberty, equality, solidarity, democracy and peace under the Italian flag.
The Italian Republic Day was first celebrated on 2 June 1947, while the first parade along the via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome was in 1948.
It was finally declared a national holiday on 2 June 1949.
The ceremonial of the event held in Rome includes the laying of a laurel wreath to pay tribute to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria by the President of the Italian Republic.
