02 June 2021

Happy Italian Republic Day to all Italians celebrating the values of liberty, equality, solidarity, democracy and peace under the Italian flag.

The Italian Republic Day was first celebrated on 2 June 1947, while the first parade along the via dei Fori Imperiali in Rome was in 1948.

It was finally declared a national holiday on 2 June 1949.

The ceremonial of the event held in Rome includes the laying of a laurel wreath to pay tribute to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria by the President of the Italian Republic.
